Our HiStory

And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living gOD, NOT ON TABLETS OF STONE BUT On tablets of human hearts. 2 corinthians 3:3 (esv)

It all began in 2010, when God gripped the heart of a 17 year old Pakistani young man for the lost and broken people pf his nation. That young man, who was still in high school, was Yashir Naeem… From the moment that God’s love consumed his heart and a passion inside him compelled him to evangelize the lost, Yashir become a bold and courageous witness for many around him. Even when situations were dangerous for him, considering Pakistan is a predominantly Muslim nation and people can be persecuted for sharing their faith in Christ, Yashir still refused to let it stop him. He began saving money and fundraising for bibles that he could pass out.

During this season of wild evangelism something radically profound happened one day as Yashir passed by a group of starving, Christian, children who lived as slaves in the brickyard near his village. This group of children were so thin, had not had hair cuts in quite a while and were dirty. Yashir could not keep from crying when he watched the kids eating garbage right out of the street. He had recently learned that some of these kids had becomes orphaned and as he wept, God spoke to his heart about bringing these orphan kids home with him with him to live and taking care of them.

Yashir lived with his parents and when he came home and told them what God was leading him to do, they both agreed and were willing to support him in following God. That very week, Yashir acquired the necessary legal documents, spoke to these orphan’s closest relatives, and ended up bringing 4 boys home to live with him and his family. He began providing for them, teaching them and really felt fatherly towards them, even as a teenager himself. Life was getting full of God led adventures as Yashir finished high school and began to plan his future career, he never could have dreamed up what God had is store for him next.

Across the world in Sacramento California, Nick Ross and his wife Jan had served as youth pastors and in multiple other capacities of ministry. One day Nick was on facebook and through a friends post he stumbled upon a facebook post from Yashir. In the post Yashir was sharing how he was trying to raise money for bibles to reach his nation for Christ. The Lord began moving on Nicks heart regarding this young man. He could see the pure heart for the Lord that Yashir had, and his pastoral heart for youth led him to get connected to Yashir. That was when he discovered the orphan ministry that Yashir was engaged in.

Nick and Jan became key leaders to Yashir and really felt led by the Lord to help him, first with the Bibles. After a couple of years of being connected, Nick and Jan had learned from Yashir about the Christian Brickyard slaves. Yashir really wanted a way to help these precious brothers and sisters to be able to have a meal and a Christmas celebration. It was around this time that Nick and Jan felt led to help Yashir connect more people with his vision and ministry. They launched Compassion Care International and started a fundraiser to facilitate the ministry work taking place in Pakistan through Yashir.

‍ ‍

Years before Nick had a dream from the Lord where he entered a church with red carpets on the floor and God told him the next ministry he would have would be without chairs but would reach a lot of people and he felt strongly about that the red carpet was symbolic. This dream was a big mystery to him! One day Yashir told him and Jan that God has been leading him to open a school for the poorest families in the brickyard that had no money to send their kids to school..

There was a place already offered for the kids to be able to have classes, and he and a couple others were ready to teach, but the biggest need was new rugs and schools supplies

Nick and Jan helped Yashir raise the money for school supplies, books and new rugs. The day the new carpets arrived Yashir sent a photo to Nick and Jan. Suddenly, Nick’s dream came back to him. The new carpets were red! Nick realized the ministry God had for him was reaching a lot of people and this was the ministry God had told him about years ago. It didn’t have chairs, but red carpets were in God’s plan all along.

With the leadership and support of Nick and Jan, Yashir was able to open two additional schools. All three schools were in critical locations where impoverished, Christian families lived that were unable to afford sending their children to school. Most families whose children attended these schools were brickyard slaves, and it was such a joy to be able to minister to these families and offer them something so meaningful. Each school had Christian teachers that taught primary education and Yashir traveled to each of the schools and taught bible lessons to the children.

Another really wonderful outreach ministry that Yashir, Nick and Jan were able to accomplish was a Christmas Children’s Program. Each year Yashir would prepare a Christmas celebration and fundraise to be able to feed 400 people. All brickyard families, which never have the opportunity to even have protein during the year, and would not be able to afford a Christmas celebration are invited. What was so special about this specific year was that Yashir was able to plan and provide a very meaningful Christmas experience for everyone. The program was a major celebration and all three schools were involved. The program had a beautiful nativity production where the kids were the actors! There were also many songs and dances all centered around the celebration of the birth of Christ. There were also 400 people that were fed during this celebration along with gift exchanges and everyone ate Christmas cakes. These cakes are a really special part of the Pakistani celebration, where everyone honors Jesus’ birthday by eating cake.

For twelve years Yashir ministered at the schools, fathered orphans, ministered to Christians brickyard slaves and boldly shared the gospel on a regular basis. He had graduated from university with a Masters Degree but his studies were not connected to his calling. His entire life was devoted to the ministry he has built and was running with his family in Pakistan, but he kept feeling a need to further develop himself spiritually. He had a strong desire and longing to attend a ministry school somewhere in the United States. He sought Nick and Jan’s direction and asked them to pray about where it would be good for him to attend as a student. After almost a year of praying, Yashir learned about a Ministry School that was located in Redding, California. When he asked Nick and Jan about the school, they looked into it and felt it was a great opportunity for him as well.
